We’ve made a decision to make a difference.

Through our Go Green for Good initiative, we’re taking small steps to reduce our carbon footprint and become a more environmentally friendly community citizen.

In addition to replacing the lighting in all our refrigerated cases with more energy efficient LEDs, we’re building a new store that promises to be our most eco-friendly location ever. Currently under construction in Lubbock, our newest Market Street location will use the latest high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, maximize use of LED lighting and high-efficiency fluorescents, and put more dairy and deli cases behind doors to keep products fresher and reduce energy consumption. Guests will also notice “light harvesting” – using natural west Texas sunshine through skylights in combination with dimmable lighting to reduce energy consumption.

All our stores offer guests the opportunity to recycle plastic grocery bags by dropping them in the blue bin located near the front entrance. In addition, six stores serve as official recycling centers for their respective communities:

Lubbock

Market Street, 50th & Indiana
United Supermarkets, 82nd & Frankford
United Supermarkets, Parkway Drive & Zenith

Abilene

United Supermarkets, 4209 Buffalo Gap Rd.
United Supermarkets, 920 N. Willis

Wichita Falls

Market Street, 4590 Kell Blvd.

Reusable Bags

With our storewide Bring Your Own Bag program, we’re making a difference one bag at a time. Reusable bags can be purchased at all of our stores for as little as 99¢ for our standard bags. Designer bags are also available throughout the year at a slightly higher price. You can also bring your own bags from home and we’ll give you a 5¢ discount on every one we fill every time you shop.
